Begin your 8-day Morocco desert tour with an early pickup from Marrakech airport or your accommodation. Drive through the stunning High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi-N-Tichka pass, stopping for panoramic views of the dramatic landscapes. Visit the historic Kasbah of Telouat, then continue to the iconic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site featured in films like Gladiator, Alexander, The Mummy, and TV series including Game of Thrones. Arrive in Ouarzazate, the “Gate of the Desert,” for dinner and overnight in a hotel.

 

After breakfast, explore Ouarzazate, including Atlas Studios, where many famous movies were filmed, and the impressive Taourirt Kasbah, a historic mud-brick fortress. Drive east to Amridil Kasbah, surrounded by lush palm groves in Skoura. Continue to Kalaa Magouna, famous for the Rose Valley, where locals produce rose water, perfumes, and oils. Drive through Boumalne Dades, stopping at the unique Monkey Fingers rock formations and a viewpoint overlooking the valley. Dinner and overnight in a riad in Dades Valley.

 

After breakfast, visit Todra Gorges, a dramatic red cliff canyon carved by the Todra River, perfect for walking and photography. Continue through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad, with free time for lunch along the way. Arrive in Merzouga in the afternoon, switch to camels, and trek across the dunes to watch the magical sunset. Wake early to witness the sunrise over the Sahara dunes. After breakfast, return to Merzouga by camel or 4×4. Spend the day exploring the region: visit an ancient eyeliner mine, meet nomads in their woven tents over Berber tea, and experience traditional Gnaoua music and dance in Khamlia Village. Take a stroll through a desert palm grove and visit the wild Merzouga Lake, also known as Flamingos Lake. Dinner and overnight in a hotel.

 

Leave the desert and visit Rissani, the historic capital of Tafilalet, exploring its lively souk. Stop in Erfoud to see fossilized marble workshops.
