Itinerary for 1-Night Camel Trek in Merzouga

Join our Overnight Camel Trek in Merzouga for an unforgettable desert experience. We’ll welcome you at our guesthouse in Merzouga, where you can park your car and get ready for your night in the Sahara. Prepare your small backpack with essentials like a camera, water, and sunscreen. The camel trek begins in the evening around 5:00 or 6:00 PM, departing from the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes. Your camel guide will lead the caravan, help you with photos, and assist you along the journey.

The camel ride to the camp takes about one hour, offering plenty of opportunities to take stunning pictures of your camel caravan and the golden dunes. Depending on your arrival time, you may stop along the way to enjoy the sunset or watch it from the dunes near the camp.

Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed with a glass of mint tea, and our team will show you to your private tent. You can then explore the nearby dunes or try sandboarding before dinner.

At our Berber desert camp, there is a large communal tent for relaxing and dining. When the weather is pleasant, dinner is served outdoors under the starry desert sky. Enjoy a traditional Moroccan meal that includes two dishes and fresh fruit.

After dinner, gather around the campfire to enjoy Berber drumming, singing, and dancing. It’s a wonderful opportunity to learn about the local Nomadic Berber culture. Later, take a peaceful walk through the desert to admire the bright stars before heading to your tent for the night.

Wake up early to witness the magical sunrise over the Sahara dunes — a truly unforgettable sight. After breakfast at the camp, you’ll ride your camel back to the village of Merzouga, marking the end of your Overnight Camel Trek experience.

We offer two types of desert camps for your overnight stay in Merzouga, both providing excellent service and comfort.

Standard Camp: Private tents equipped with shared outdoor toilets.
