TOUR Itinerary

The 2-day Merzouga desert tour begins with an early pickup from your accommodation or Fes airport. Travel south through Imouzzer to Ifrane, famous for its cool climate, snow, and Alpine-style architecture—earning it the nickname “Switzerland of Morocco.”

Next, explore the Cedars Forest, home to Barbary macaques, with the opportunity to feed them while wandering the woodland. Stop in Midelt for lunch, then continue your journey along the Ziz River and through the scenic Tizi-n-Tilghmt Pass toward the Sahara.

In the afternoon, arrive at the Merzouga Desert and switch to camels for a ride across the golden dunes. Pause atop a high dune to enjoy the magical sunset. Continue to a luxury desert camp, where you can experience traditional Berber music and drumming, dancing around the campfire under a sky full of stars. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Wake up early to witness the stunning sunrise over the desert, followed by breakfast. Return to Merzouga by camel or 4×4, where your driver will be waiting. Depart the desert to visit Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalet, known for its vibrant souk, especially lively on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

Continue to Erfoud to visit a workshop showcasing fossilized marble. Drive along the Ziz River, stopping for panoramic views of the Ziz Valley. On the way back, pass through the Cedars Forest and Ifrane, before returning to Fes.
